UK National Insurance contributions (NICs) while living in ROI

    Hi.
I was born in Northern Ireland and worked there for about 3 years in total before moving to the republic. I'm settled here now with a family and don't intend moving back to the North. I was considering paying UK NIC arrears plus setting up a direct debit for ongoing payments until UK retirement age so I would have a UK pension as well as my ROI pension. Does anyone know if this will have any impact on any Istate pension I may received from the Irish government when I retire here? I understand there is a reciprocal social security arrangement between the UK and Ireland but don't know what this covers and what (if any) impact it would have on my Irish state pension if I were to continue to pay UK NICs and receive a UK pension on retirement in addition to my Irish pension. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    thanks
