LOOKING FOR A 5K (Fun) LATE JULY EARLY AUGUST

Story is my sister wants to run a 5k and she is following a training plan. She hopes to do a 5k in 8-10 weeks time. I've been looking through fixture lists and while I can find plenty of 5ks I'm afraid she will be left behind and miss out on race atmosphere etc. I also don't want her to get too disheartened. I have no idea how slow/fast she will run but I'm guessing just under 30 minutes.

If anybody can think of a suitable 5k that fits the above dates I'd be much obliged. Ideally don't want to travel outside Leinster but will consider it if needs be.

    Thanks

How about St Cocas 5k road race 24th June in Kilcock or a little later Celbridge AC 5k Road Race 14th August?

excellent, Celbridge looks perfect. Do these races generally get walkers and joggers. I'd hate her to enter a race with mostly club runners. She is enjoying the training so I want to make sure she doesn't get demoralised during her first race.

Not quite 5k, but good race for a newbie as there will be all standards and shapes and sizes there, recent 5k had a 16 - 30min spread.
Race 7: Wed 13th July Distance: 4k Road, Venue: Greystones, Shoreline Sports Park Time: 7pm Registration, 7.30 Start: Beyond the Pale, but they secretly wished that they were in it.

Celbridge 5k - 15 euro for the race goodie bag and a technical t-shirt.

Is 15 euro the norm? I've never done a race before, going to sign up for one in order to motivate myself to finish the couch to 5K running plan.Is the Celbridge one decent?:P

Just curious, and I didn't think it warranted its own thread: what time would you generally want to be aiming for to win a 5K event?

    Under 15 minutes.

Try Liberties Fun Run in Dublin 8 on July 21st. 6.5k if you can push yourself that bit further.

We are putting on a 5k Run/ Walk in conjunction with the Tulfarris "Tough" 10 (Mile) race near Blessington on Sat Aug 6th

Feedback from boardies that did the Tough 10 last year was great - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055975360&page=4

The 5k will not be a very hilly route and as it starts at 11.30 most will be finished by the time the ten mile folk are finishing and even the walkers will be done in about an hour and so will be home alongside those doing 90mins for the 10

    www.tulfarris10.com[/URL] has the event details

The shorter option (5 mile with the half) at the Strawberry race in Enniscorthy last Sun seemed to work well for Jane and Graham as the half and a tough ten are not for everyone.
