Buying Turkish Lira here or in Turkey

    Hi All

    Just wondering if anyone has any experience of turkish lira.

    Heading there soon and i want to know if its cheaper to exchange my euros in Turkey or do it here before we go.

    It will always be cheaper to get your foreign currency from a local ATM in the destination country. If you have a card with the Maestro logo on it, this will be your best bet. If you need to purchase a visa to enter Turkey at the airport, that can be paid in Euro or Sterling as well.

    Edit: Now that I think of it, it may even be that the visa can be paid in Euro or Sterling only, not in Lira. So bring some hard currency.
