I have about 250-300 euro to spend which I know isnt a great budget to purchase a laptop but I just want an entry level computer for my brother
who is just learning about computers and the internet etc.

Basically looking for something that would be powerful enough to enable
good web browsing speeds, with a cd/dvd drive and with easy functionality.

Saw some Acers in PC World and Currys that matched this spec but were a bit out of my pricerange.

Am based in the Galway area, would appreciate any suggestions especially in regard to other stores if anyone can help

    cheers

Currently £249 with free shipping to Ireland:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-notebook-Celeron-Windows-Premium/dp/B0049SQ832/ref=zg_bs_429886031_45

That's what I would buy given your budget.

Have a look at the Harvey Norman entry level ones. Brand names too.
