Part time work and money

Hi, I was working two part time jobs but had to leave one(my employer agreed to terminate me so I have a letter from him) due to conflict in hours. I am now working 3 days a week(12hr days) and come out with 300 after taxes etc.
While I know its not social welfares problem that I am on **** money and have mortgage and bills to pay, but would I get laughed out of the place if I went looking for JSA/JSB for the days I am not working.

I was reading up about it and its says that if you have suffered hardships while being part-time(which I have a drop of 260 pw that you may be entitled to something. I don't want to waste my time and theirs though if it is a sufficent amount in their eyes but could really do with the extra money. I have been looking for a full time job. And am I correct in assuming that it is 30Per day for the days you are not working?

Because you only work 3 days a week you are considered a part time worker and you may be entitled to some JSA. So it is worthwhile talking to them!

Casual benifit is what you are after. You can work up to 3days and depending on what you earn they supplement, anything over 3 and you don't get anything.

Great thanks alot for replies, I was worried that I would have to be earning less than the dole to be able to claim. Will go down to them next week.

If you are working 3 days a week but 12 hr shifts this may not entitle you to a social welfare payment. Enquire at your local SW office.
