Just a quick bump also anyone whos applied your names are all in the data base will be in touch when dates are available.

Just to answer a few questions
1 no its not pay to play
2 no you don't have to sell tickets
3 yes it would be cool if you can bring mates to the gig
4 don't know if we'll be able to afford paying bands at first but down the line maybe
5 You can rap as long as you don't want to be treated like a rap star
6 My opinion on girlfriends and roadies is simple, no freebies :) sorry but its a business not a charity.

    Are these all +18 gigs?

For the moment all of the money is going into paying the people who are going to be working at the gigs promoting the events, organizing better events in better venues, when the schools are back were looking to run a competition between 50-100 schools throughout ireland and all the money thats made is going straight back into the business to get bigger better venues. But down the line once profits are being made money is going to start going back to the bands. It may take a while but eventually i hope to be running a company that can pay bands to play as wel as giving them a good crowd to play to.

For anyone else whos interested i've set up a new page.

What makes this any different to any of the other so-called "promoters" over the years? Its always the same story...we have to pay "me" but not the bands who play. Bigger venues, bigger crowds? Heard it a million times before. The company will vanish with any monies after posting/"promoting" gigs on a few internet boards free of cost but the bands will be back to square one having forked out a truck load of money on practice, equipment and transport to/from gigs, nevermind their hard work and man hours!

The key to any company functioning successfully is treating your employees, in this case "the bands", fairly. Some money to cover expenses should be the least they get from each and every gig. If you cant provide that, then this is rightly destined to fail.

Ok so heres my staff list,
6 promotions girls handing out flyers getting people into the venue
Door staff to check tickets and such on the night
a investor who helps me get money towards venues
    A few drinks for bands.
If theres a good enough crowd on each of the nights i'll happily throw the bands some money.

Then the rest of the money goes back into hiring out better quality venues.
If the venues were cheaper i would gladly pay bands but the fact is decent and i mean half decent venues charge between 300-450 euro, amazing venues such as the button factory and the academy are 500+ a night, i think whelans is around 450 a night. So as ya can see theres not really much money being made on this in the first place, i'm doing this with one rule, unless the bands international its always a fiver in! I don't mind losing out myself i just want to get experience in this line of work.

Oh and just so you know i've printed out 500 flyers for the gigs, i;ve advertised it on local radio and yes i've used forums :)

Just so everyone know's i've always spoken my mind on these boards about how much I do not like when promoters try to screw bands over, the reason i don't like this is because I'm in a band and have been screwed over myself a few times. I will try make these all the fairest gigs I can but its the nature of this business that were in to be a little down on cash when it comes to organizing.

The pint, twisted pepper, mezz, mercentile to start off, once the night gets more popularity though going to be looking at bigger venues like whelans the villiage then if it keeps going good the button factory and the academy 2

Jesus its gas to see your ''trying'' to run your own nights now after all your abuse to my night, giving out about promoters every time i posted an ad looking for bands, hypocritical or what! I now see why you were doing it, obviously just trying to bad mouth your competition. I hope bands now know of what type of person you are, Snake!!

I bad mouthed your night because you put a clause in saying bands couldn't compete without ten mates there, thats not promoting your own night thats getting bands to do all the work for you :) Besides I've played one of your nights, wasn't very impressive.

Nah mate, I've been doin gigs with Offthewalls for a good while now, hasnt let me down yet, done some savage nights, lots of people, good craic, lookin forward to more of em.

    1. My night rewards the best bands at the end of the night every night thats why we ask each band to bring 10 fans so we can give away good prices, our night, and if they dont bring 10 people they still get to play

    2. I'll have to come down to check out one of your nights soon to see how amazing it is with all your ''staff', Id be very surprised if its run the way you say.

Lastly if your new night is anything like your band, it really couldn't be taking serious!!

Here Daycent bill why don't you just stop being all pissy and go ruin another thread, unlike you i'm in this for the bands not the money thats why i win and you fail now **** off!

Daycentbill and off.the.walls: Please stop arguing with each other. You have both been warned previously about keeping things on-topic and insulting other users. Perhaps you can resolve your differences with a little tête-à-tête in real life or by PM? Either way I don't want to read post after post of sniping so consider this a final warning.

Typical promotor. pay the eegits who hand out posters/flyers, some dodgy money pimp in the background and a knucklehead on the door.... then add insult to injury by trying to get the band pissed!!!!

I'll do the gig for you, but if i'm not being paid i want picking up from my house, dropped back. my own dressing room, a sound engineer who can take dogs abuse and a full house of groupies to polish my little talented nuts once i'm finished.....

MY POINT IS YOU DONT GET ANYTHING WHEN YOU WORK OR ARE EXPECTED TO WORK FOR FREE!!!!

I think i'll stay with the REAL management companies. RMM, CEB, GG, etc

    Pants I say...... PANTS!!!

Ok housesale, once the venue is paid, the sound engineer is paid, the staff who get the people in to see your band perform are paid and then if theres enough left over the bands get paid. I didn't say i wasn't going to pay bands I said i can't afford to YET.

But one thing i know for sure is that with your attitude i wont be inviting your band to do any gigs.

Now is there anyone else out there who would like to derail this thread?

housesale (and anyone else) please keep on-topic. If you want to bitch and moan about promoters do so outside this thread. Any further posts off-topic posts will result in bans being handed out.
