    Hi all,
I'm thinking of ordering a new computer and from reading the other posts here, it seems the german website is the best place to buy.

I've read through alot of posts and it seems the I5-2500k is the cpu to get also a motherboard with usb3 and sata3, but thats were my knowledge ends.

Can any of you recommend a silent/quite case
An SSD, windows 7, Ram, a multicard reader, wireless card, graphics card (something that can play most games), Monitor 22-24in, any fans that may be needed, and small set of speakers. I can source the keyboard and mouse.

    My budget is about €1500

    Thanks in advance....:)

Don't install a pirate operating system - it's not worth the hassle especially for gaming rigs.

Some of the things here are a bit overkill don't you think?
He doesn't NEED a Ext. hard drive.
USB hub is not NEEDED (Most motherboards offer enough USB Ports as is.)
Expensive desks are not NEEDED. I use a cheap IKEA desk and it's perfectly fine! Cost 20-40 Euro.
LianLi tend to be a much more expensive case & IMO 90% of them are ugly. I agree with the coolormaster cases being good.

For 1,500 you will get a nice build. Personally, I tend not to give advice on Intel builds, as I don't know much about them. (AMD Budget builds are what I tend to go for)

I do agree that you should look for reviews on all parts before buying, see what the downfalls of the item are, if any.
IMO ATI are the way to go with Graphics Cards, but that's only because I'm biest to them.
For a standard hard drive, Samsung Spinpoint F3's are a good choice (SATA Drive) for SSD's, well, I don't know, I'll let someone else take that one.
You won't need to many fan or anything unless you plan on overclocking.
Do you plan on OCing? If not, you won't really need a new heatsink, so the one that comes with the CPU would be fine, if you do, theres a few headsinks that seem to be very good. One brand I hear alot about is Noctua. The lads will probably link you to there best one. If you only plan on a bit of OCing the Coolor Master Hyper TX3 is fine. Keeps my CPU at very low temps on full load OCed from 3.2 to 3.7 (Under 28)
DVD Drive, really, any dvd drive is fine really. I use a dvd-rom drive =P cost feck all and it's perfectly fine. (Although I would recommend going with a re-writing feature =P)
As for motherboards, MSI, ASUS, & Gigabyte seem to make some good boards.
I assume you want the PC For gaming? Or is it for something else?

    Here's a build from scan.co.uk - 2500k, 6950 2GB, 8GB RAM, Crucial SSD - http://www.scan.co.uk/savedbasket/f67ddd6250f54fe0a6143ebc635a04e6

I don't think that the admins would take to kindly to encouraging piracy on the forums.

I like merc.ie's build. I might recommend the GD55 for the extras (or even the GD65), if you're buying a high budget system.

A 750W PSU isn't really necessary unless you plan SLI, so think about how likely adding a second card will be.

One other thing is that I would always advise a good set of homeplugs instead of wireless. There's a nice selection of these on scan.

My dear old friend above has already been put to the Admin Sword Of Justice so no need to worry about that account again.

feeney92, you are walking on very thin ice. Another mention of pirating any kind of software and you'll wind up getting banned from Tech and quite possibly Boards as well. Admins are rather tetchy about pirated stuff... ;)

    Hi
i'm not an expert but i think you have a big budget , you can get top of the range components & u'll have some money to spare . my advice will be get a magazine from eason "custom pc" or checkout some companies who specialise in custom pc's such as "chillblast" , that will give you an idea about what parts to get .
my choice for tower (monitor + keyboard + mouse + speakers ,are not included , this will depend on your personal choice ) will be as follow :

    8GB-Kit G-Skill RipJaws €69.35
    Corsair Force A 80GB SSD €132.29
Cooler Master 690 II LITE €64.50
    EVGA GeForce GTX 550-Ti, 2048MB €146.56
    Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 650W €67.97
    Sony DRU-880S €23.09
    Lian Li Aluminium-Cardreader €18.81
    ASUS P8Z68-V, Sockel 1155, ATX €131.89
    Intel Core i5-2500K Box, LGA1155 €172.44
    TP-Link TL-WN821N 300M Wireless N USB €10.17
    Seagate GoFlex 1TB €77.78
    Toatl = €914.85 + €30 delivery .

i had seen in an american site for SSD with more memory & a bit cheaper . but you have an external 1TB,(plug & play or power cables needed) that is quiet a lot . you can look at a different case to suit your taste. also you have a wifi adaptor and a card reader . the motherboard is very good . i'm sure you have keyboard + mouse + monitor somewhere ;) even if you buy them new from ireland , you wont break the bank  i dont know if you intend to overclock . but this machine should b able to do well all the time .

    Hi All,
Thanks for all your replies (and the time you've taken).

I've read your posts and google'd alot and have a few more queries,

On the mobo side is the GD65 alot better than the GD53 or GD55, as I think its only €25-€30 dearer and wouldn't mind paying the extra, also is it simple to install a mobo, i.e. screws and cables or is there dip switches and bios flashing required? I assume it comes with a manual?

On the graphics front I was going to go with the
MSI N560GTX Ti Twin Frozr II/OC, 1GB but now I'm thinking the
Sapphire HD6950 1GB as both are priced at €195 or are there any other I should be considering?

I think the idea of ethernet plugs is a good idea over the wireless

    the other components I'm thinking of are;

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB, SATA II
    8GB-Kit Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz CL8
    Antec Truepower New 650W
    Intel Core i5-2500K

But the case needs more research, i seen a recommendation in a magazine for this case; Silverstone SST-FT02B Fortress but its nearly €200.
Is it worth this? the cases recommended here are the Fractal Design ,the Antec twelve hundred and the coolermaster, anyone any opinion on these,
I'd like the case to keep the noise down.

In regards to the memory(RAM) two of you picked 8GB G-Skill Ripjaws, is this a paticular good type of memory?

Also is it a matter of plug and play for connection an SSD? and then loading windows 7 on it?

    Thanks again....

The Fractal Design R3 is very quiet and easy enough to work with.

I'd go with the ripjaws over the corsair vengence - high heatspreaders are a pain. Memoryc.com have a better selection than scan, and often better value. HWV usually have the edge with RAM prices, but you'd want to order your whole system from there. Delivery with memoryc is free. If you get a ~64GB one, watch that you don't go overboard with installing everything to the C-drive or you will run out of space.

SSDs are very straightforward with windows 7. Just install it as you would with any hard drive. You should probably enable AHCI in BIOS before installation.

i found the SSD on ebay . it is 120Gb ,that should b enough ,even if windows 7 will use about 30Gb or more of that ??? it will set u back a 160 quid . and this is way better than getting a regular hard drive. as u worry about noise , hard drives can b quiet noisy sometimes. and ssd is really fast .

also cases are not really famous for being sound proof , it you are not goin to overclock your machine , there for to overheat it , there for to use many fans & cooling systems to cool it down , then you should be alright , and the noise wont be loud enough to bother you .

Import duties and postage make that not worth your while. It's usually best to keep everything on just one or two site.

it seems the german website is the best place to buy.

i think you should know that with the german site you should transfer the money from your bank , which is really a slow process and time consuming , it will take 3 to 4 business days for the money to get to germany , then they will ship your order , that is another few days too waiting b4 you receive your goods .
if you can afford payin 20 to 30 quid more for the same order and gettin it within a couple of days , you should have a look at overclockers.co.uk , pay online & quick delivery .

Let's us know when u get your rig .post some pictures ...goood luck
