I have practicing my urban driving yesterday evening, which has a lot more hurdles than country driving.

Driving along and wanting to turn left at a junction a pedestrian had put their foot on the road and was going to cross over in front of me, but was watching me to see what I would do.
what is correct in this case. I can well imagine something like this happening on the day of the test.

I beckoned her to cross, as pedestrians have right of way but I am not supposed to beck anyone?

The second scenario was at a T junction where i pulled up to within a foot of the line. I am supposed to go up to the line but a SUV turning right cut the corner and nearly hit me. Cutting corners seems to be commonplace amongst fully licensed drivers.
What would you do if you get hit? is is a question of your word against theirs? They could possibly try to claim that you were in the wrong. After all you are the learner.

thanks in advance for any replies

Correct once a ped takes possession of a junction, putting their foot on the road, they have right of way. The only thing you did wrong was calling the ped across. Stop make eye contact and wait for them to move, never call or beckon someone else on the road let them decide themselves.

Take plenty of pics. You take you're position at the white line and if someone hits you their in the wrong for cutting the corner, just be aware of Advanced Stop Lines for bikes.

    I agree with the foregoing.

I would add however that in respect of the cutting corners thing there is everything to be said for coming up four or five feet short of the white lane to allow extra room. There's a couple of junctions on my regular route where I would always do this.

I don't know what a tester's view on that would be - I can't see why it should be considered a fault. Perhaps someone else can say.

I think you could get a mark for this if it was a driving test as you could be deemed to be in the wrong position. Just my opinion based on lessons I got.
