Hi, just wondering if anyone could advise me on the cost of having exhaust replaced on peugeot 106, it fell off my car on my way to work, attached with rope at the min thanks to a kind gentleman who stopped and helped me out, I need to have it done ASAP and as cheap as possible. I am not too far from drogheda but willing to travel to keep costs down, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    all depends really...

the exhaust is made up in sections, if only one section is busted it wont be too pricey, but if the whole lot is damaged then it will get pricey...

a back box would be around €90 ... usually the one to go

The pipe came away from the back box, completely rusted, just waiting for 9 to ring around and get prices.

Where the Pipe joins the box like? Water builds up there and slowly eats away at it. Happened to me a few years ago on a Punto. Cost about 100-120 quid to get replaced in First Stop

Exactly the same thing happened to me in my people carrier. Went to Souhans in Trim as they can mend/replace just the offending article rather than replacing the back box. Will defo save you money.

If it's down to rust eating away at it, a weld mightn't do the job. The metal would just crumble away

Mine was due to rust too.

Fast Fit wanted to replace the back box for €450. Souhans replaced the pipe to the box for €65.

    Job done, perfect.

Happy days so! Advanced Quickstop tried to tell me I needed a new centre section as well as backbox and wanted 350 for the pleasure!

In garage now it's the centre pipe and he says back box will go soon, quoting €200 to do it,
got price from fast fit earlier they said €70 for back box and €90 for centre pipe.
Said that price to this guy and he has asked me to give him an hour or two to price around to see if he can do it for better price.
Going to ring around a few more places now I know what I need.
Should I get both done now or leave the back box till it goes?

I generally don't take advice from the guys that work in those places because all I've ever gotten was bad advice. Your backbox could well be on it's way out but I personally would wait

Dub xv thanks souhans just called me back and quoted €90 to replace and fit both.

Seems to be best price by a long a shot and have received good reports on forums haven't seen any bad reviews. So think I might go with them.

Souhans asked if I need the catalytic converter changed, but surely the guy in the garage who looked at it would have said if I need it.

Graham18bc -appreciate Your advice so am bringing to family friend to look at to check what exactly needs to be done. Unfortunately he's off on holidays today so can't do job for me.

    Good luck with it.

I reckon if you go with Souhans you won't be disappointed. They are a nice bunch there. Very helpful and most of all they are not in the business of ripping people off as I can testify. The boss called me in to have a look at the faulty part to explain what they needed to do.

    Clear and transparent

    And affordable :D
