    Hi all.

Finding it hard to get info related to Irish spec BMW 520i E60s. Hoping someone can help.

Note the car in question is a 2005 model.

Will the factory Bluetooth work with an iPhone 4?

Will it just work for calls or also support music?

If not music, what is the best option for integrating the iPod element of the iPhone 4 into the iDrive interface?

    Thanks!

The factory Bluetooth will work with iPhone 4, however it will not work for music unless you have additional modules installed in the car.
There are a few ways of getting an iPod to work in an e60, the Dension Gateway 500 is possibly the best solution but you could also go as simple as retrofitting an Aux port or somewhere in the middle & fit an iPod controller like part number: 65412160344
If you want to get music via Bluetooth as mentioned initially there are a number of additional modules. That you'll need to add to your existing bluetooh kit.

    Thanks!

Is the iPod controller part you gave user installable or do BMW need to upgrade any software?

Also how much roughly would that cost?

One final question. What is the average fuel consumption of the 2.2 petrol version?

I was in a BMW dealer yesterday and noticed a leaflet for an iPhone 4 armrest cradle, although apparently that doesn't integrate music either.

I have an 09 E60 with USB + iPod prep. With the iPhone/iPod cable hooked into the USB and Aux ports it works away fine.

As for working over bluetooth I know it's includedin the newer versions of the iDrive but from the comments above would reckon you need some mods to make it work over bluetooth.

    The USB/Aux works fine though.

Do you know if a 2005 has the USB and aux ports though?

USB was an optional extra so will depend on the spec of your car, but IIRC All E60's came with the AUX port in the centre cosole facing into the rear.

Don't think so - if my memory serves me they came as part of the audio / communications pack in post LCI cars.

I do recall there being an aux port / USB retrofit you could do that put the ports into the glovebox ?

In a standard install they are in the centre console in front of the phone cradle.
