Will be getting a new laptop over the summer. I currently have a Dell studio 1555 and have never had any problems with it. I have a budget of around 850 but i can stretch above that if the appropriate machine appears. I would be using it for general use but also would have Solidworks and possibly photoshop working.
I have been looking at the new dell xps 15 and seems to tick a lot of boxes just wondering what your opinions are on that model and there similiar models with a similar bang for buck.

I do a lot of Photoshop work, make sure you get a large amount of RAM and a decent CPU as Photoshop uses a lot of RAM, GPU and CPU resources.

XPS is a good model to go for, another handy item to get is a graphics tablet to help you draw. anything by Wacom is a good choice.
