hi, i think the dtt signal from castletownbere is down today, can anyone else confirm this ?i
it was on channel 55 vertical, analogue from ctb seem to be ok,
a complete wasted call this evening to a house,to find no installation fault, rtenl need to supply some detailed info to the trade regarding signal levels,we still dont know if mullaghanish is running on reduced power and there is a lot of time wasted around the country side to find no signal!

I can't confirm I'm afraid but power appears to be up at Mullaghanish based on reception from there at my brothers house.

Two other sites were reported as down in the last few days - Glanmire and Kilkeaveragh - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056057752&page=16.

Could be Mux 2 upgrade work?

Its not good enough now to leave viewers and the trade in the dark about this now that the platform is launched since last Saturday according to their email to the trade last week - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=72341650&postcount=8

Following a Saorview trade event someone posted hereabouts that there would be some interruptions to the service following the public launch until autumn.

I am also of the opinion that tranmission power appears to be up from Mullaghanish this evening, my usual pixelation and picture breakup caused by Wind turbines is very little and if they could raise power by 10% from whatever it is at now I might even get a stable picture for once! They should just switch all transmission sites around the country to maximum output now that the service has launched!

thanks for your help, had a text message to say that castletownbere dtt is working again,it came back a while ago,we just dont know if the problem was due to interference,or the transmitter,or what,it would be nice to know for sure.

congrats to the cush, top marks, there is a second mux on channel 59 from castletownbere, its blank just like channel 24 from mullaghanish.
so i can confirm that castletownbere is using 55 and 59.
it seems that mux 1 on channel 55 was down while upgrade work was going on for mux 2 on channel 59,this is unofficial of course.

Guys, I think the only way to get RTE to start publishing information is to start asking them EVERY time something goes wrong.

They'll soon get the message that it is simpler to put out a message on their website than it is to deal with dozens of emails/calls etc...

It seems we're doing the work for them on boards!!! Well done us!
