To keep stanley range or not!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,
Got a large old stanley range that needs a costly repair. The previous owners of the house were a family and made great use of this. I am living on my own and only use it for heating and drying clothes.

There was a seperate burner outside that was in use but that has been removed by the previous owners eventhough I presume all the connections are still there. I am undecided what to do.

Should I repair my stanley range or would it be more economical in the long run to purchase and install a small stove or just leave it bare and install a new burner outside.

The house is centrally heated with rads in every room and the switches are there for a burner. There ios no problem with the central heating, it's the range itself and have been quoted nearly well over a grand to fix. It's 27 years old. A new one is very costly.

I am very used to it and am just wondering is it a waste of money (for a single person on their own who does not use it ever for cooking or even boiling a kettle) to have and if yes what are better alternatives.

I have no idea of costs etc. If anyone could offer any words of advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

Sorry, forgot to mention that it is an oil one.

Ranges are very inefficient as compared to other boilers. It might be worth installing a condenser outside and a solid fuel stove in place of the range. You should qualify for an SEAI grant.
