I got an offer from Sky in the post this morning , Sky Movies €9 a month for three months with no obligation to keep the package when the 3 months is up. We decided to go for it and it only took about ten minutes for the channels to come on.
    Good offer I think.

Got the same offer. They usually have some sort of an offer over the summer for Sky Movies. It's not for me though.

Just don't forget to cancel after 3 months (if it's not for you). I'm sure they make a fortune from those who forget and get charged full whack when the offer expires.

I wont be keeping the package , I asked what date will I have to cancel and they said 1st August so it marked it on the calendar so I dont forget ;)

I got that offer as well but didn't take it up, also they asked me did I want Sky Sports for half price and again I said no.

Strange. I got a letter yesterday offering me Sky Movies 1 and 2 for €4.50 a month for three months.

Is the €9 a month for all Sky's movie channels?

You sure they didn't mean they would give you Movies 1 and Movies 2, which gives you all the Sky Movies channels.

So the Movies 1 Package includes:
    Sky Movies Comedy
    Sky Movies Family
    Sky Movies Classics
    Sky Movies Modern Greats
    Sky Movies Drama & Romance

And the Movies 2 Package includes:
    Sky Movies Action & Adventure
    Sky Movies Crime & Thriller
Sky Movies Sci Fi & Horror
    Sky Movies Indie
    Sky Movies Comedy

You get Sky Movies Premiere and Showcase,a dn Disney Cinemagic when you sign up to both Movies 1 and 2.

    It's explained better here:
    http://www.sky.com/ireland/tv/movies/

But if Sky are offering the two packages for €4.50 a month to some subscribers, I'd be fighting to get it for that price too.

No, the letter and detachable card were quite clear. Sky Movies 1 and 2 were only mentioned...

Initially I thought it a good offer as I thought it was the full suite of movie stations. Reading it closer showed it was limited to the two...

Odd, I don't believe there are even Movie Channels named Sky Movies 1 or 2?

Yep that's what I thought. It also says Sky Movies 1 & 2 on the letter offering €9 per month, but what they mean is every Sky Movie channel.

The T&C's around the recent price freeze announcement from Sky stated:

"Price freeze applies to current Sky TV standard pricing and excludes offers. Price freeze may not apply if you change your package."

If I run with the €9 movies offer and cancel it after 2 months, is that deemed a change in package, resulting in a price rise 15 months earlier than would otherwise be the case?

    Never got this offer..

.. might give them a call about it tomorrow.

Wouldn't mind it for three months for €9.

Not a bad offer alright, but bear in mind it is €9 a month for 3 months (so €27 for 3 months), not €9 for 3 months. But if the above poster was offered €4.50 a month, I'd chance my arm and try to get it for that price.

Oh, €9 a month? Feck that tbh!

Thanks for this. Strange wording on Sky's part. Anyway, offer was definitely for €4.50 per month for three months.

There is a sky movies pack 1 and sky movies pack 2 both which contain half the movies and are offered all the time at half price sounds like they may be offering one of these for 4.50 rather than all the movies for 9e.

Sky are a bloody nightmare. I signed up for the 9 euros per month offer for 3 months cancelled when 3 months were up. They charged me full whack of 55 euros p/m for the 3 months. When I phoned to get this rectified I got pushed from pillar to post and was told to leave it for 45 days as this was the backlog for bill queries! (more likely the longer they leave it the better chance you will forget about it). After 45 days I ring back to be told that it has been looked into and I took up the half price offer and will be reimbursed 42 euros (whereever that figure came from!). I told them of the offer I availed off and they just kept saying the case is closed and won't open a new one. I now have to write a letter to customer relations. There is nothing easy with Sky!

How did people get on when they cancelled after 3 months?

Remember that you must give 31 days notice-so if you get a deal for 3 months then you need to phone Sky after 2 months to cancel,if you wait until the 3 months are up then you'll be billed full whack for the 4th month as Sky bill in advance.

    @ Indenial-try an email to jeremy.darroch@sky.com

Yes, I gave them the notice before the second month was up. I'll try and email that person and see where I get. Cheers

I got an offer of sports and movies for half price for 6 months. 21 euro a month not bad I suppose.
