    Hi there,

Theres a situation I cant get out of,i have to drive to a wedding in a different county.Im the designated driver(lost a bet). The other guy im taking along says that if im still drunk in the morning he will drive.

Now heres the Crux,he isnt insured in my car.If hes over the limit(how can you accurately tell without the proper breathlyser) he takes teh risk of both being over the limit and unlicensed. Its on him to take the risk but can i be penalised in anyway for letting him take my car?

    thanks

yes, you can get out of it - dont drink sufficient quantities to render you over the limit the following day.

    it isnt rocket science.

oh and yeah, if you let him drive the car while still over the limit, and you get in teh car with him, you might be penalised by serious injury or death.

Does he have a license? If he does ring your insurance company and see how much it would cost to get a named driver on your policy.
As for the drinking don't drive if you feel drunk and don't be bullied into letting the other person drive. Best thing to do in that case is leave your key's at the hotel reception and don't get them back till you feel ok and give strict instructions not to give them to anyone else.

Eh duh ... Just don't drink then.

And you would be an even bigger idiot if you let him drive uninsured.

Maybe I should have pointed out this is a Theoretical situation.
I was looking at from a legal point of view,so MODS can you move this to legal discussion where i was meant to post so I can avoid any more do-gooder and smart ar*e answers.

Neither we, nor the Legal forum can advise you with regards to illegal practices such as allowing someone to drive unlicensed or under the influence.
