Definately give it a shot-some good dive sites are a short boat ride away. However watch the weather (in common with anywhere on the Irish Coast!)-get advice before you travel.

There is a good Dive Centre (PADI) & a lot of the CFT Clubs spend some time there also throughout the season.
    Hope this helps.

plenty of dive sites worth a visit ( see list: http://www.oceanlife.ie/index.php?page=divesites ) as long as you get out of the bay (weather depending ).

2-3 CFT clubs dive there every weekend ( not including the local club Kilkee), if you're with CFT, worth giving your RDO a shout to find a place on one of the local boat.

The PADI center is quite good and active

Kilkee is definitely worth the visit. Some of the best sites are actually situated in or around the mouth of the bay. Middle & Outer Rock, Myles Creek, George's Head. Other sites such as the Pinnacle are popular with the depth junkies. With the best (IMO) and very rarely dived sites being Donegal point & the Blue Pool (which is actually Beltard not Kilkee).

If you are diving with Oceanlife they will advise you on weather conditions for diving. They won't bring divers out in big swells, unlike some others.

Keep your eye on windguru and plan accordingly, bay faces WNW (stand to be corrected on that) so a West to NW swell @ 1.5-2m can call diving to a halt.
