...like, could a shih-tzu and a sheepdog have a baby?

I'd ask in animal and pet issues, but they won't take me seriously. You guys won't take me seriously either, but it'll hurt less.

yes they can. but it has to be a female sheepdog and a male chiuaua. basically they just shove the whole dog inside her with a tiny breathing aparatus

I don't know for sure, but i'd imagine once the mother is the bigger dog there shouldn't be a problem. It would seem a lot easier for a great dane to give birth to half jack russel pups than vice versa!

Never understood why they were so popular.

Anyway, apparently their are some breeds that are just not meant to mix:
. Mating a Pekingese with a Pug could produce disastrous consequences. Both breeds have eyes that easily pop out of the socket to rest on the cheek.

Make sure the bitch is the giant breed or you are in for problems and it would be cruel.

I think the animal section would treat you quiet well at least you will get good sound advise.

yes thats the problem with a lot of pedegree breeds that are built for looks rather than function. horrible behaviour from some breeders out there

Yes. Theres no problem unless its a physical, round peg, very much smaller round hole type of thing

There are even companies that sell special harnesses that facilitate the cuddles

This thread reminds me of the ex-relationship between Hayden Pannettiere and Wladimir Klitschko for some reason..

Theoretically yes and most hight differentitated breeds cant as height difference unless artifically.

However breedign big breeds with small breeds is quite dangerous as can cause the mother to die at birth and is very common.

Labradoodles are off a labrador mother or a large breed pooddle mother.

The Female usually has to be the big dog, otherwise she will
    A/ be crushed while mating
B/ have problems carrying the pups to full term and giving birth
C/ have problems feeding the pups
D/ Yore Ma (Sorry, AH reflex response)

No, they couldn't have a baby. They could possibly have puppies though.

Yes they can and I'm a former puppy farmer -

Had a *cking big ass terrier/collie mut breed with my prize winning minature yorki one time - My dog was grand but the puppies were an abomination so through them in a bag then through the bag into the Liffey!

As long as the mother is the larger dog, it's generally fine. Unless you want the puppies to burst their way out, alien style.

Yes - dogs, of any breed, can physically reproduce with any other breed. They are the same species, thus egg and sperm will join and puppies will be made. On a practical level, a giant breed male really shouldn't reproduce with a toy breed female (mainly because she would have serious issues carrying the puppies to term, and birth would be very risky, plus penile insertion would be very difficult so artificial insemination may be needed) but the opposite would be very possible.

    No!

But parents did breed minature yorkis though they were family pets - and one time a big collie/terrier cross did breed with the b!tch and she gave birth to puppies that were 3 times the normal size of her other litters - all dogs grand then we reholmed the puppies to good homes.

I think the vet said if they other dog was any bigger she could have a C section! though a st bernard yorki mix would probably result in taking your yorki to england for an abortion!

I'd be imagining the posters over there putting coco_lola into a black bag which would in turn go into the Liffey!

You could take small male dogs and use a catapult to fire them at (or into) large female dogs. You'd have to make sure he's interested first or he won't errr... stick :pac:
