    Hi all,

A friend of mine has a 2003 toyota avensis with radio problems. Basically the tuner has become very poor and the sound isn't amplified, the CD still works fine with the exception of the sound issue. A supposed obvious repair is to replace the radio unit but I suspect that their is a seperate RADIO RECEIVER & AMPLIFIER / ECU (http://cgi.ebay.ie/TOYOTA-AVENSIS-2007-RADIO-RECEIVER-AMPLIFIER-ECU-/280688064176?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item415a4ff6b0) I seen this and assumed this part being faulty would be the root of the problem.

Q Does anyone agree with this diagnosis?
Q Where would I get such a part and installation instructions?

    Ta.

Is the radio silver or black? Sounds like radio fault- the black stereo the amp is built in

The radio colour is Black, my mate tells me he brought it to a car radio centre who told him it was the amp and reciever and would cost in excess of 200 euro to replace. If the amp is built into the radio, what is the cheapest DIY solution you could reccommend?
