Bordeaux hotel recommendation ?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a functional (doesn't have to be awesome) hotel on the outskirts of Bordeaux for a single over-night in early July.

I'll be driving down to Bordeaux from Cherbourg and meeting Mrs Zag and the mini-zags who will be arriving by TGV late in the evening. We head on down to Biarritz the next day, so we will only have a few hours to spend in Bordeaux.

My thinking was to get a hotel on the outskirts of the city and get a tram in to meet them rather than try to navigate around Bordeaux when I've spent the best part of the last three days either on a ferry or on a motorway.

However, I can't seem to find too many hotels which are described as being on the tram system.

There's a swarm of them around what appears to be a convention centre in the north, but they're not close to the tram as far as I can tell.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels on the outskirts of Bordeaux & on a tram line ?

The Etap on the Bastide side of the city is on the tram line. We have used it many times and would recommend. There is also an IBIS next door. Its quite reasonably priced. Its not too far a walk to the centre but if you have kids the tram is handy and only takes a few minutes. If you want any further info send me a pm
