    Hi Lads,

    Looking at this cable

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR842LL/A

For my oldish mac mini has dvi out and I'm just wondering what happens with the sound? Does DVI output sound?? Or do I have to put that into the audio in for the tv or how does it work??

Yeah, sound must be carried separately. What cable depends on the connections on your tv, but you'll probably need a 3.5 mini jack to 2 RCA phono cable.

    Nice one for that.

Does the sound come across so on every channel when you've it plugged into the RCA inputs?

    Any other solutions out there??

One of the lads sent me on this??

As in if you have 4 HDMI inputs and one RCA input when you have sound coming through the RCA does the sound come through over all hdmi inputs, but I'm guessing now that's really a tv question.

Most TVs only bring the audio input on one of the HDMI channels (usually HDMI1).

In fact, if you look at the HDMI1 connector, you might see it say something like "HDMI1/DVI" to emphasise that fact.

Any of the TVs I've seen with this (LG, Samsung) use 3.5" line-in sockets for it.

Yeah, see if there's a 3.5 phono input on the TV. That's how I've usually carried sound from Xbox, WDTV and other devices to my TV. The RCA inputs are usually used for component/composite connections.

There was a thread on Home Entertainment recently like this. The TV in question had 4 HDMI inputs - Sony I think ? - in the manual it stated that only HDMI-4 would use audio fed to the Line in RCA connectors.

I use this setup from Amazon to connect my 2009 mac mini to my tv. It works fine.
