Google Nexus S from the US - work in Ireland?

    Hi all!

I'm making the move back to Ireland from the US in a few weeks. I've have a Google Nexus S smartphone which I bought here and am currently using on one of the major US networks. I have a few quick queries:

    1. Will my US handset work in Ireland?

    2. Am I limited to any particular mobile network in Ireland? (I used to have a pay-as-you-go Meteor account but will go with whoever is cheapest)

    3. Will I need to get the phone unlocked?

Apologies if any of these are obvious questions, I'm not a techie person so this is new to me. Thanks in advance!

Try a sim from a different network in it. That should indicate if its locked or not. If it is, that's your only real obstacle.

It will work with all networks in Ireland once the network lock is open, just see which has the best coverage around your main location of use.

Depends on the network you are on, if you are on MetroPCS, Verizon, Sprint, etc then no. If you are on AT&T yes, T-Mobile will be limited to 2G speeds for data.

I know Nexus handsets are supposed to be unlocked, but I think there is a US law requiring all handsets sold to be locked to a carrier?
