l'm wondering in relation to the posters and handouts around the town , they are full of statements like "we believe the store will ruin small business" or 'we feel it is not in the towns best interests" or "we think the store will not bring people into the main town" , does anyone know who the "WE" are ? , it seems very irresponsible not to at least put who the posters opinions are ment to reflect , are they on behalf of everyone in the town , some small businesses , all small businesses , the chamber of commerce , etc....who ? are they just a couple of small business owners that are friends and decided over lunch in the Melbourne that they were gonna put a stop to this store ? its gonna come down to An Bord Pleanála at the end of the day anyway , sorry for the bit of a rant and l know theres another thread regarding this but not about this specific point .

Seems to be small business owners that have come together to object.

I dont understand the whole we think the store will not bring people into the main town attitude by the objectors. As it is Tesco (the food part) is not on the main street. The only difference is that people will be driving to get to it from a different part of the town.

Is Tesco suddenly going to start selling loads of things that it doesnt already sell? It already sells magazines, clothes, toiletries, food, meat, alcohol, electrical items, books, CD's, household goods. Are these items suddenly going to become much cheaper because Tesco is opening a bigger store? I dont think so.

I hope this atitude doesnt affect the arrival of Boots.
