Its called pride... you always save the flag in war or on a ship thats sinking... do you know anything about pride in your nation?? Because your the type of person that would leave our flag in any situation and not have the balls to carry it away

I wouldn't call you an idiot because I don't know, but to state what you just said sums you up to be honest... you probably lack respect for yourself? Never mind the country!

If someone was shooting at me and a few others, or we were on a sinking ship, a ****ing flag would be the last thing on my mind.

'Hey, Paddy. I have to leave you there. It's you or the flag, and the flag gets priority because I love Ireland.'

I love my country and do my part by voting for Labour and not for FF (or their dopplegangers in FG).
Yeah, Labour aren't great, but at least they haven't been ****ing every single person up the arse since the foundation of the state.

Didn't call you an idiot. Your post was idiotic (to me).

I don't need to hide behind a piece of cloth to prove my worth as a human being. You keep hiding and blaming a piece of cloth for your troubles (pun intended).

Like Bill Hicks said "They didn't die for the flag, they died for the freedom to burn the flag".

There are better quotes, but I like "Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious." - Oscar Wilde.

OK, for the record chin_grin has no pride in his country... the economic problems are difficult, hell he's probably unemployed... blaming the tri-colour for his problems... ah well, people like him so would rather ****ing moan their way through life, he's probably even the type of person to join the armed forces to make a bit of cash, but wouldn't bother his arse carrying the nations flag to safety... FOR SHAME!

Well aren't you very narrow minded. I am employed (not that's it's any of your business).

I'd never blame the tri-colour for anything because you're not getting my point. Those who blame a piece of cloth or fight for a piece of cloth are idiots. They fight for the freedom that the cloth represents. The freedom to not give a flying f*ck and get his nickers up in a twist if that piece of cloth is rescued from a boat.

And yes, I witness pride as being a very dangerous thing in Ireland..........even in other countries. To me it gives those narrow minded populace a reason to rabble about nothing and the lay man a reason to shout about things they don't fully understand just because a certain political party has the 'voice of the lower classes'.

I don't moan my way through life. I like to live it and not worry about trivial sh*t that I think is mentally stunting.

The flag is what you claim allegience to... therefore as a mater of basic ****ing pride you protect the flag... you describe it as "just cloth"... if you believe that, then that piece of cloth is worth a **** load more than you are in my opinion

Gosh you're a very angry person aren't you.

So if you and chin_grin were on a boat and it was sinking, you would save the flag, rather than the person? Says a lot more about you than it does about him/her I'm afraid.

Where does it say that any of us claim allegiance to the flag - in this country now, not America.

You're contradicting yourself. By the way "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is in their constitution.

    http://www.constitution.ie/reports/ConstitutionofIreland.pdf

You search that file for the word "flag" and you get one result. What colour it is.

That comparison is stupid to the extreme... of course I'd save lives... my last concern would be the flag, and I'd ****ing get it rather then some of the pussys to the nation on here

If you can't separate symbols from what they represent (A flag is not the country - it merely symbolises it) then you have serious problems. In any case, it's not that important. Grow up.

I really think someone needs to give you a hug.

So a training ship is sinking, the crew's responsiblity obviously is to the trainees first and foremost not to a flag. If you're saying you'd save the person, then I really don't get your point.

They didn't say they did get the flag, they didn't say they didn't get the flag, why are you getting so worked up about something you don't know even happened - or didn't?

I wonder how that excuse would stand up in court.

"Yes Your Honour I realised he didn't bleed for a piece of cloth so I left him to sink and went after that instead."

    Uh-huh.

This has nothing to do with Nationalism under any circumstances, it's about pride in your country... I know what lengths you will go to for the tri-colour, and I respect that, you know... just much more people including myself would save the "piece of cloth", get a sense of pride of dignity in my view

Lame attempt at thanks whoring response:
this commuter just caught a train to bannedville.

Attempt to accurately explain the situation in a reasonable manner:
I suspect that this OP is trolling and he is certainly insulting other posters. As I have noted that this is not the first time such behaviour has occured I have decided to remove his access.

Attempt to sum up the general mood of after hours:
    Go away OP.
