    How does this process work? What kind of fetac course do I need to do if I wish to go onto IR in the future?

    Help much appreciated.

    The website just says you need a distinction in 5 relevant subjects. I think details are in the prospectus if you have a copy.

    Contact Ken McDonagh at the school of law and government.

    He is in charge of IR as far as I know.

    Redout is correct, Ken McDonagh would be your best bet for that info.

    Everything from Sociology to History to International Finance to Law is relevant.

    I'd say that would depend on what you studied, more than likely it would have to be something like political economy or macroeconomics, not things like LC Business.

    I would say that Ken will advise you to take something to do with politics or history. The majority of modules are about specific regions in the world but there's also the boring stuff such as International Law, Human Rights Law,Development Politics etc.

    Of the top of my head I would say the 5 areas that would be relevant (I doubt IR will be too fussy, they're sound) are;

    Politics
    History
    Sociology
    Economics
    Philosophy
    English

    Best thing to do is to email Ken McDonagh.

    I have no idea how many are accepted but in my year it started with about a dozen out of 60 or 20%.

    IR is very easy to be adequate in so I imagine it won't be too hard to get in.

    For anyone interested in this area of study, apply for International Development in Ballsbridge, great course, loving it.
