I was wondering would anybody be able to give a rough estimate on getting a tachograph system installed on a 15 seater ford transit?

    What year transit?
If before 2006, then something like this will do: http://cgi.ebay.ie/TACHOGRAPH-VDO-KIENZLE-24V-ANALOGUE-UNUSED-/170645423134?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CommercialVehicleParts_SM&hash=item27bb42841ehttp://

    Plus installation cost and calibrating.

    Couple hundred anyway,.

That tacho is 24v & transit is 12v system,I don't think it would work TBH;)

Any coaches registered after April 2006 will need to be digital, that also means a driver key from the RSA. Between Head, fitting and calibration and certification, your looking at the guts of €2k. You might be able to know a few hundred off for an analogue head. Also if buying off the web, all heads a built per vehicle, so the Iveco head above would not be worth feck all to you. Contact you nearst VTN centre, they will be better placed to price you.

Cost is approx 1200 euro fitted, sealed and calibrated at least this was what I was quoting lads two years ago when I was working in the motor industry. All tacho systems now fitted need to be digital. The tacho head needs to be the same as the equipment the garage has for calibrating them. Buying online is a waste of time, I know two lads who bought in 10 digital units for a bit less than we charged and they were no good and the lads still had them two weeks ago when I was up there :) there is a motto " buy cheap pay twice, once for the cheap one and twice for the one you should have bought"

Any of the VTN centres should be able to advise you as to the best kit but I'd advise you to shop around. The garage I worked in had bus drivers from all over the country come to them, I've heard more than once that there was a lot of variation in prices from garage to garage

Just wondering wot is the situation wit vat on buses, buddy of mine is thinking of goin buying a bus its 2007 to sell on, his a private individual nd I was thinking wouldn't anyone looking for a bus e.g tour operator etc want a receipt (the likes of a receipt from a garage) for the bus or would it be of no odds as there is apparently no vat on buses/coaches.

Just wondering really wot are the in's and outs of it???

OP, realistically you're looking at 1200 - 1500 to get the job done right.

Who calibrated it? Only a VTN centre can do this, and they have to be registered with the RSA.

1 post and a link to a sales site, Spam...

Please don't drag up old threads to point to some site that sells stuff.
