VHI and Long Term Illness

My daughter was diagnosed in late '10 with Diabetes, T1 and Coeliac disease. We are in VHI family plus. Our renewal came and went a month ago, and because it's paid through my husbands wage dept, I didn't realise it.
It has only now dawned on me that maybe I should inform them that she is T1, or do I need to? Will I see an increase in premium? Obviously I'll do what I have to do to keep our health insurance and will contact them if necessary, but as they are impossible to contact by phone, I thought I'd ask here first.
Sorry if this is in the wrong area.

I think you should be OK. A new insurer would put a time restriction on how long you'd have to be with them before you could make a claim related to a pre-existing condition, but they shouldn't be putting any loading on an existing policy. Also as the current scheme is through work I think they are generally just set at a fixed rate for the whole company.

You premium shouldn't be affected at all. it's a flat rate and if the onset of your daughter's illness was before you took out the health insurance then there's no problem, and you also don't need to inform them. if the onset (not diagnosis!) was beforehand, then there's a waiting period of 5 years.
