I just bought a macbook pro. I use eircom e mail. I'm receiving e mails but I cant send them. I can send e mails from my iphone so I tried syncing my mail settings but I still can't send emails from the MBP.
When trying to send e mails I get a dialogue message saying, cannot send message to the server and when I open the connection doctor it shows connection to the server has succeeded.
    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you with Eircom? If not, you'll probably need to set your current ISP as your outgoing server.

hi you can check the SMTP SERVER Eircom SMTP (Outgoing) Server:
    mail1.eircom.net OR mail2.eircom.net

    Thanks for the replies.
It was just as Sad Professor said. I had to use the address for my outgoing server from my ISP which is vodafone.

My outgoing server was set at mail1.eircom.net so it was just a matter of changing it to mail.vodafone.ie

    Thanks again.
