Is there an option on the HTC Desire S to Display What Type of Signal you are Recieving e.g beside signal Strength Icon, Edge 3G Etc. without enabling Mobile Data or without going into About Phone/Network.

Seems abit odd not to Display this as Default on such a new phone as my past few phones have.

    Cheers.

Why would you want to know the signal type when your not going to be using mobile data? For SMS/Calls any signal type will do...

By turning off mobile data, you are switching off the phones ability to connect to the mobile data network, hence disabling the phones ability to connect to the mobile data network and display networks it is not connected to.

However, the function you seek is actually working, while not connected to the mobile data network. It is connected to the gsm network, because you have disabled the other networks. If you walk around/check different locations, you will still be connected to the gsm network, so the icon won't change...

    Hope that makes it clear.
