Transmission Fluid Level

    Hi,

Just did a transmission fluid drain earlier,(on level ground), when I removed the fill plug on the side, a little oil came out, I thought it was supposed to level with the hole not flowing out of it ! Anyway flushed out and refilled. It takes 1.9 litres I got about 1.6 in and it's continuing to flow out the fill hole so I put it back in.

I'm just wondering should I leave it like that or drain it back to the bottom of the fill plug? I'm afraid there won't be enough oil in it as I didn't put 1.9 litres back in when it started overflowing. Don't want to risk over-filling either

    Car hasn't been moved yet.
    ;)
    Thanks.

If you didn't get 1.9l out of it, it will be hard to put 1.9 into it if you know what I mean.

Often times people will overfill them and you will get some spillage when you take out the level bung. Once yours is level with the bung you should be grand.

What car is it and what way have you got it jacked up?

If you have it jacked up at the front/rear or side then the gearbox won't be level to get the amount right at the fill hole.
