    Hello all.

I have recently started selling items into some large American companies and have come up against a problem. They are looking for ' Product liability insurance' that covers our product in the USA. I've been selling in the USA for years but this is the first time I've been asked for this.

After 1 month of phone calls, emails I am at a loss, nobody in Ireland seems to do it. I have tried the enterprise board, Several insurance brokers (even tried England) but still no luck.

The main problem is that the product I am selling is made in china.

Has anybody here had any experience with this matter?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I really don't know the answer, but if you are having a tough time, you should certainly talk to the Chinese Embassy, Enterprise Ireland and http://www.irelandchina.org/ . It is EI's job to help Irish exporters, and they have offices in the US, so they might be able to point the way. The fact that the goods are made in China shouldn't necessarily stop them helping, as part of the value-add is clearly in Ireland. The manufacturer should also be able to help you. There are also trade groups in the US for the industry you are in and they might be able to help.

You really aren't going to find a regular insurance broker in Ireland or the UK who will help with this.

A quick Google search turned up http://www.stratusins.com/ - but I'm sure there are many more.
