Piano diploma or senior certificate?

    Hi
Having done Grade VIII on piano (roughly 20 yrs ago!) I have been thinking about doing the teaching diploma, primarily because I have started teaching my own kids how to play and would like to take them as far as they wish to go with it. Also, I feel I have some unfinished bussiness with the Diploma, I did it for a year with the RIAM after Grade VIII and had to drop out because of other commitments. But now, that I have more time to give it, I was thinking of doing something on piano to get more qualified with regard to teaching. At first glance (at the RIAM diploma syllabus) the teaching diploma looks tough (namely the theoretical papers I and II) has anyone out there done one recently? Also, I don't live in Dublin to enroll with RIAM and attend classes so how would I get through the theory syllabus? Is there a reading list? Maybe the Diploma is a step too far, I do still play the Beethoven Sonata that I covered in that one year, but I think the theory papers are scaring me off. Is the Senior Certificate worth doing or has anyone done a dip with another exam board?

why take step by step. I did the diploma some years ago but did straight after my bmus, why try the certificate to get back into it and get some lessons on both the theory and piano performance. Then try for the performance cert. next year.
