    Hi All

I have a front bumper which I need to repair. Its made from GRP Glass fibre Reinforced Plastic.

Would any panel beater be able to fix this material?

Anyone hazard an estimate for the cost.

Also would it fail the NCT in its current state?

    Thanks

Any sharp edges would mean an NCT fail i'm afraid.

It doesnt have to be pretty for the nct so you could do a job on it to get it through.

What about duct tape - would this do as a temporary measure for the NCT ?

From what I understand tape would work fine if it was on the inside and didn't draw any attention to the damage. For that to be the case you would need a clean join but from what I can see there is a chunk missing which would still be on show.

My sisters car failed on a crack on top of the rear bumper, it was covered with duct tape and passed no problem in the re test.

Tape is good. In this case though, the bumper might be a bit wobbly with just tape. Im sure the nct guys check that bodywork is secure too.

I've seen the 'frankenstein' method been used a few times. Only if your prepared to live with it. :o
