I do not like the Android modding community

I am tired of all this, I have had nothing but awkward **** happen with my ZTE Blade, things not working, now i have to flash another ROM AGAIN because nobody told me the market doesn't work in FLB Gen2. I understand these people are doing it for free, but they have almost no foresight, don't seem to consider essential features going missing as a big deal, and give you the most minimal instructions. I don't like ambiguity because I know how easily I could brick my phone doing this. I think they're very irresponsible as not everyone who wants to get maximum functionality out of their phone is a huge tech geek.

I'm just endlessly frustrated by this and I almost wish I'd never gotten involved.

Does anyone else feel the same?

    I don't.

I put Japanese Jellyfish on my Blade when I first got it and have not looked back since. Perfectly stable and everything works.

I wouldn't see that as a reason to stop, but as something to consider the next time you do.

It's not so bad if you have a phone that is no trouble and your first ROM works out for you. My Blade/SanFran didn't have the recovery console which made things very awkward and didn't work with the version of Clockwork I tried. SS5 caused serious battery drain, so I had to switch. Battery drain went way with FLB, but then market stopped working.

Those are only the major issues I've had, quite a few minor ones too(like Ringtones not working). Downloads/market seems to be working now on FLB, but we'll see what else I run into.

    Go get an iphone

I flashed 2 San Frans last month for my brother and the missis, I had everything researched and bookmarked and ready to go. I flashed both in about 40mins after arriving from the North without any problems or even having to ask here.
now i have to flash another ROM AGAIN because nobody told me the market doesn't work in FLB Gen2.

You were told a few times in the thread that people are here to help, but you need to put the work in yourself and read up about what you are doing, not just read here, but on other forums like Modaco also.

Modaco is largely what I was talking about, actually. Nice attitude though.

if you don't like doing it why are you thinking of going to another ROM and not just going back to the original one that came with it:confused:

What did you do, go on there asking mountains of questions? Much like here, they're probably tiring of answering the same questions for those who don't search and refuse to read up and research themselves. I don't post on Modaco or Xda, but I do read up if I need any info, the threads are a mountain of knowledge. You probably got their backs up, much like you did here.

So why didn't you just leave your phone as it was? It was working when you got it.

Problems always arise when people blunder into something without having a clue what they're doing.

At least you gave the Modding a go anyways Op. Most categories I use on here have the same questions asked more than a few times so wouldnt really bother me having you ask a question. Just look for a stable released rom, flash it and you should be grand then.

To be fair I kind of get where the OP is coming from..

I've a Desire HD that I have yet to find a proper radio for - each ROM recommends its own and yet the (WLAN) performance generally seems worse than the last (any suggestions here would be welcome :))

I'd more-or-less settled on CoreDroid as my ROM of choice but 6.5 broke MMS, 6.6 fixed this but caused force close errors whenever I got a call. I asked twice in the XDA thread but I guess they were too busy pestering the dev for the next release date and fawning to notice! (at least 6.7 seems to be ok though - but not before I had to update Clockwork Recovery manually (and as a semi-guess) and rewipe the phone after it kept giving E:CACHE errors during my first attempt!)

I guess my experience is that the community here on Boards (while a lot smaller and not as specific to individual ROMs) is a lot more helpful but it's certainly not something I'd be advising anyone who's not handy with Windows/command prompts and a bit of "trial and error" lateral thinking when needed.

You should totally tell those lousy modders that you want your money back!

The thing about the Orange San Francisco is that its only available to Orange customers, not available here, only in the UK. To use it on its stock software would wreck your head as its very heavily Orange branded.

Ah okay... fair enough in that case :)

I would be too wary of me bricking the phone I do have lol

Just get launcher pro. That would hide most of the crap you don't want to see. I haven't bothered with modding my desire, running stock 2.2. Got bored of sense so got launcher pro to use instead.

Custom roms always have something wrong with them. Unless you're stuck on a really old version of android then I don't see the benefit.

    How Grateful.
Have you heard of a search button?
You have started a dozen threads in MoDaCo in two days .
    Seriously.
You are constantly moaning and begging for help and I haven't seen you thank anyone.
    What age are you? 12?
