Before digital cameras, some people didn't have a polaroid camera so had to go to the chemist to get the photographs developed,a practical joker would had took pic of their arse or something without you knowing and leaving you embarrassed collecting the pics, other stories i heard where graphic photos of giving birth.

Did anyone else assume this was someone asking how to develop photos they were to ashamed to bring into their local chemists?

Back in my day we used to tie bits of chewing gum onto a piece of string, swing them into the air and shout "Mee-Maa-Mee-Maa-Mee-Maa"

That was our "consoles" back then.

I've two disposable cameras full of photos from a school tour in Transition year in Holland and Germany. Since it was early in my drinking career I have no idea what me or my friends took photos of. They'll never see the light of day unless I learn to develop them myself. Pity though I remember taking a few good ones of the Cathedral in Cologne.

I was hoping the first post would develop into a good anecdote, a la George in Seinfeld putting "sexy" pictures among his normal photos to be developed for the cute girl in the chemists to notice.

I dont think the people in the chemist even look at the pictures as the machine develops them.

What kind of disposable camera were they? If it was black and white film, you may be able to do it yourself relatively easily. If it was colour, then rest assured that the processing done at a pharmacy or wherever is almost completely automated, and unless the tech decides to specifically look through your prints after they pop out, only the top one will be seen as they're popped into the envelope.

Depends on how busy they were, some would look through some, and attach stickers to under/over exposed photos so people wouldn't just think that they messed the pic up developing it.

Imagine how difficult it was to send dirty pictures back in the day! ;)

Just put them on your PC.

The film would have to be developed first, or they would just expose it completely by trying to do this, ruining the photos! :pac:

My photo guy was named Howard-something and I used his services quite regularly until one day I found a picture of him riding a goose in with my holiday snaps.

That was the last time I ever went to "Geese Howards" photo store!
