signing on exempt ??/

    Hi just wondering if anybody can help.
    I'm on job seekers allowance and have to sign once a month
    I was supposed to sign on today between 9 and 12 missed my time so i went down at 2 when the office opened after lunch.
    the woman working there asked me if i was supposed to sign "this morning"(between 9 and 12) I replied yes she told me i was exempt and that I don't have to sign until 26th of next month.she didn't explain why or tell me if it was my fault because I was late. I tried to phone them and no answer will go down in the morning anyway..but i taught maybe they were closed ..if anyone could tell me a possible reason why I was exempt and what does it mean.thanks
