What have you tried or not tried so far?

If you're just not sure where to start, there's a brief guide here. I'm not near my Ubuntu machine so I can't double check but I'm pretty sure the installation should be the same on 11.04. I haven't used BTG in a while but I'm pretty sure that the settings should already be there.

I have had some funny Glitches using the O2 broadband modem. Seams to disconnect itself and go off line just in the middle of something GRRRRRRRR.

I had followed the setup instructions from Ubuntu forums.

This morning I went into the settings and for the internet from the top right corner and deleted the settings for the ethernet, as this seemed to be a duplicate of the mobile internet settings.

Will see tonight if this improves the connection.

Plug it in and type "lsusb" in a terminal. What's the result?

Or type "sudo udevadm monitor" (might also work without sudo) and then plug it in.

    Or read this: http://jasonroe.me/blog/meteor-broadband-working-on-ubuntu/

I too am trying to get me Meteor Broadband ToGo to work on Ubuntu.

I set up the connection as recommended above. But nothing happens, the stick is not being picked up or something.

Can anyone give us a detailed step by step guide as to what to do?

The solution is from here(Polish): http://www.abcubuntu.com/index.php/2011/02/24/nie-dziala-ci-modem-huawei-e1820-jest-rozwiazanie-problemu/

    Translation by google: http://translate.google.ie/translate?hl=pl&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.abcubuntu.com%2Findex.php%2F2011%2F02%2F24%2Fnie-dziala-ci-modem-huawei-e1820-jest-rozwiazanie-problemu%2F

I don't have this modem to test it, so let us know if it works. If google translation isn't good enough (seems to be OK), let me know.

Hi @gymman39, the most important two questions are:

    1) What is the version of ubuntu you are running ?
Is it 11.04, 10.10, 10.04 or something older.
If you're not running one of the most recent ones, you'll have a hard time with
something that would probably just plug and play on a newer system.

    2) What is the model of the USB stick - the "Meteor broadband to go" is not a
single product. It'll be written on it. It's probably one of E173 or E182.
They are different even though they look similar!

What do you mean by detected like a normal usb device?
What would you expect ubuntu to do when you insert it?
Double check by right clicking on your network icon that there isn't a new option quietly added there to "Enable 3G".
