    lads and lasses

I'm looking at getting my first AEG some time in July and was thinking about an M4. my budget would be about €250. i'd prefer something that was metal and not fully plastic. also looking for one that would enable to me add to the AEG, ie scope up top and under possible barrel accessories when i get the cash. also what mags would be worth getting as in whats teh difference between mid and high caps? when i was out using rented kit the mag on the AEG has a little wheel that had to be wound every now and again and to be honest it was a pain in the arse to have to do.

I know I'll have to pick up face protection I already have that sorted and is winging its way to me over the next week or so

An m4 is a pretty good idea for a first gun. if it has foreward rails, it can take accessories, and top rail for scope.

The difference between hicap and midcap is that the hicap is the mag with the wheel... it holds more ammo... but it does rattle a lot. Midcaps you load with a speed loader, and doesnt rattle, and you don't need to wind it (spring powered)

Brandwise... g&g raiders are a good plan, king arms m4s, and you can get a full metal g&p (pretty guns) for about €250-260 euros.

yeah i found the rattle of the mags a pain too. cours ei was also stupid enough to leave a bottle of BBs in my cargo pocket so that rattled like hell. wont make that mistake again.

i used a g36 too when i was out but just felt the M4 was a better fit for me, easier to hild, the mag release was located nicles so i could fire with my index finger and release with my fore finger, besides i'm looking to eventually get a USAF loadout so an M4 would suit that better. some good friends served with them inlcuding one who tried out as a PJ and went on to be a MTI.

G&G raider is a great starter and will give u the option to ad bits as u feel,
    good internals too ie:gearbox/barrel etc...

if i had known this when i started i would still have one but im stuck with my CA M15A4 sportline with the RIS rail handguard.
but now im rockin a madbull barrel/hopup combo, bearing bushins on the gearbox and a new piston. she shots just fine.

but yeh go with the g&g u cant go wrong with it.

What about dBoys are they any good?

there's a metal dboys for €230 in one retailer, in a different retailer there's a G&G raider for €259. both inlcude battery and charger

go with the raider. I used to have one and they are a great gun.

dont waste your time on a dboys. You will have too much upgrade work to do.
The G&G is very good internally too.

You'd easily spend that upgrading a dboys to reach the standard of the Raider.

Seriously though, if you are having doubts maybe you should wait a while until you're sure?

I've settled on the G&G which obviously comes with one high cap and as we all know these are a pain in the arse to wind up. So i was looking about and came across this

they are battery winding mags. anyone use them before? they any good? i assume they rattle like hell just like all high caps

well theres actually little rattle out of those C-mags as theres a plate under all the bbs in each drum that moves them up and around the the centre of each drum so instead of them having just an open box like hicap mags where if you run you make lots of noise there isnt as much out of those magazines.
My friend has one and if needed i will check for you tomorrow on the noise level but thats how it works if i remeber correclty.

but if you want a smaller magazine have you tried lonex magazines? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_FA4fiWM3I
retails at about 30 +/- euro here in ireland

i have 3 of them myself and i am impressed. pull the cord 5 times and it empties 360 rounds.... just give each magazine 5 pulls before you start a game and there will be need to pull them anymore until you emptie the mag.

the major thing you have to factor in with drum/box mags are weight and size

ive heard bad things about them but ive heard great things about them

if you do CQB.... you might wana go down a different road a they are very bulky for going around corners. but then again they dont run out of ammo easily so you can just litterly spray and pray without touching a wheel to wind them

and running around a wood with it all day can get very tiresome. and always have a spare hi cap r 2 with you because if you run out instead of spending a few minutes loading your drum mag just pop in your hi cap and shoot.. it will get you out of a knot
