James Purefoy and Dervla Kirwan have signed up to star in ITV's new drama Injustice.
The five-part series has been penned by author Anthony Horowitz, who recently worked on Collision.
Purefoy will star in the show as William Travers, a criminal barrister who is recovering from a series of traumatic events which have made him question the legal system.
He eventually becomes involved in a case surrounding his old friend Martin Newall (Nathaniel Parker) who is facing conspiracy and murder charges while being investigated by vengeful detective DS Mark Wenborn (Creed Miles).
The series is described as a story of "friendship, conspiracy, betrayal and murder" and is said to take a critical look at the legal system.
ITV's director of drama commissioning Laura Mackie said: "Anthony is such a talented screenwriter and the quality of his scripts has attracted top flight acting talent. We're totally committed to original, authored drama and this commission is a brilliant addition to our slate for 2011."
Meanwhile, Horowitz said: "Laura Mackie asked me to come up with a psychological thriller that would keep audiences guessing to the end and I hope with Injustice I've done just that."

Just finished watching this now. As a series I thought it started well but got more obvious and cliched as it went on. The plot had potential but there was some serious leaps of faith. For example in the confrontation between Travers and Newell, finding the computer from a dredger must be hugely improbable and it seemed like he guessed the child porn bit. And where did Travers' idea to check nautical records come from..?
Some of the dialogue was shocking too; angry victim to lawyer outside court: "This isn't justice... It's injustice", jesus.
That said the two main characters were very well acted. The cop in particular was quite interesting, shame the actress who played his wife was atrocious. It was the chase of Wenbourne coming after Travers that kept me watching, as almost everything else was blindingly obvious.

    bit of a bump

Flew through over the last few nights

    Thought it was excellent

The two main actors did an excellent job as did the animal rights activist though he only had a couple of scenes

The young lad Alan and the detention officer were good also

I didn't like the actor who played the sergeant at all

Good storyline with an overlapping case that develops as it goes on

Worth watching, I missed this first time around

Definitly potential to get another series or two out of this
