    Hello Shopaholic,

I am a qualified accountant who teaches FAS courses in accounting and bookkeeping to FETAC level 5 which is essentially to Trial Balance.

The double entry system on bookkeeping is probably the single hardest thing to understand fully for most people learning accounting. If you have a good understanding of that and like accounting , i would say go for it. You will have no problem as it will start back again at the new beginner level and will be like a revision course for you. As regards the other subjects, look at the syllabus on their website and see if they are of interest to you. Again ,these will start at a fairly basic level so it depends on your own level of interest.

PM me if you like a more detailed discussion on this.

    Regards,

    Chevy RV

    hi shopaholic,
i applied for the vto and got rejected because i had a fetac 5 cert already, i also applied for a maintenance grant and sent them a pile of paper work but they were looking for papers i couldnt provide, you cud apply for a maintenance grant but it just became a pain in the a*s for me so i didnt apply properly. i did get back to education allowance this is ur dole of €188 a week and €500 in the bank in novemberish. this 500 paid towards my books. ill apply again for the BTEA in sep but i hear they only give u €300 towards ur books startin this year. i dont know about childcare, did u go to citizens information? also studentfinance.ie is a very good website

    Hi there,

Just wondering if you went ahead with this course shopaholic?

This course is run by Griffith College Limerick and Limerick College of Further Education and I'm just trying to figure out which is better.

Both colleges appear to offer the same course with the only difference being the price. Can anyone who has done this course in either college recommend it? How were the lecturers etc?

    Thanks a mill

    Hi Amber,
you probably made your descion by now, I finished my 2 years with ATI in LCFE, it makes no difference what college you choose as your aim is to become a member with Accounting Technicians Ireland and its there body that you will be dealing with when booking exams etc. I picked LCFE for the cheaper registeration fee, lectures were brilant, no complaints here
