My fiancee has a total debt of around €30K and I was just wondering how this will effect us when we get married, if we want to buy a house get loans etc.

Will it matter if I apply for loans on my own or do banks do credit checks on your partner as well??

Just to note I'm not being a scrooge and I'm helping her to sort out her debt but would like to know how this effects us in the years to come??

I don't think you sound like a scrooge!
Depending on your bank they will do a credit check on both people applying for the mortgage. Things are changing all the time so its hard to keep on top of it! I was looking about 8 months ago and Ulster Bank said they I need to have no outstanding debts. I pay my credit union by direct debit so someone told me to pay that bu cash and then it won't be on record. Dunno if this is true tho

thats only true if the credit union in question dont use ICB (irish credit bureau). If they do it will show up when the usual credit checks are run regardless of how you pay it.

itll likely hurt, bank will deduct the repayments from her gross to calc her ability to repay.

bank are fairly skeptical at the moment.
