They refresh their images periodically as far as I know.

I've seen them several times here in Galway over the past few months.
The camera was down or covered each time though.

I wanted to be on it.

I wish they'd do that with their maps

The maps they use are still the Teleatlas ones, whereas with all the surveying they've been doing themselves for Streetview, they should have collected enough data to replace them with maps of their own I'd imagine.

Even in places where the Teleatlas maps are up to date, there's sometimes a considerable difference in the path taken by some roads between the maps and both the Streetview and Aerial imagery.

Bing are no better, it's what Garmin uses for it's online software for uploading GPS data, there are still some big differences I've recorded on the bike on the roads compared to the maps. (Even if the GPS is not totally accurate)

Hey. Spotted the google street view in cork city today. Got talking to them. Two Belgiim lads. They told me they were finishing in Cork today and moving onto Waterford. They are in a green and White small van with 'Tom Tom on the rear and side, and of course, the cameras all over the roof.

It'd be rather dd for Tom Tom to be doing Street View, seeing as Tom Tom and Google are totally seperate firms...

They do however update do their own map data, occasionally.

I was speaking to the guys in the van and they told me they were doing it for both Tom Tom and Google.

Street view has been updated to include a few bits it missed here in Galway - my parents road is now included.

I've noticed some new sections of road that weren't there at launch popping up, such as the Limerick end of the M7. The problem is that some older sections of road and junctions approaching these new sections have not been updated, so you find yourself jumping from a building site to a shiny new stretch of road. Very badly done, though I expect only readers of this forum would be bothered using Street View to look at motorways anyway.

The one occasion where it's ok not to blur out the faces. Brilliant :)

    This too shall pass.
