rte2 analogue gone fuzzy

A couple of days after the official launch of Saorview, rte2 on analogue seems to be gone fuzzy.

The house is near Midleton in Cork, and is picking up saorview fine, with a roof aerial.

Could the power of the saorview transmission have been pushed up, and be interfering with the analogue transmission?

There isn't a dtt box or IDTV at the house, I've just been testing with a usb tuner.

It is likely to be Co-Channel Interference (CCI). Analogue to Analogue CCI gives venetial blind effect interference, whereas Digital to Analogue CCI represents itself as fuzz.

Give us some more information, like location and channel number affected if you can?

As in the OP, it is near Midleton Co Cork.

I did a rescan on the tv, and it was tuned to a VHF channel, tv doesn't give the number.

changed it to a UHF one, and it is better.

Thinking of getting the DTT box from aldi, so it will not matter if I do.

More information and some punctuation would help.

RTE actually announced a couple of nights ago that there would be transmitter outages, which was awfully nice of them. . .

Yeah, it meant that us boardsies were given the basics to figure out what was going on instead of having to do all the work ourselves:mad:

    Bring back Aertel 169, RTÉ!!

    Bring back Aertel 169, RTÉ!!

I don't think Aertel 169 ever carried transmitter downtime info, RTÉ2 Aertel page 530 did but had gone even before they moved to 169.

I assume you mean unplanned outages? I had read of many notices of outages for TV or FM services over the years on page 169. If there was an outage without any notice, I'd call RTENL over it one way or another. I've never used Page 530 as for a long time I had a TV which wouldn't work properly for RTE2 aertel and it had gone by the time it was removed I think.

I didn't realise p530 is gone over 4 years, sometime between the end of Mar and May 2007. Page 169 would have carried transmitter downtime information after that.

Don't remember exactly when they ceased providing that info thru p169, possibly sometime in 2009 as the DTT network upgrade was underway. I wonder why it stopped, maybe due to the amount of work going on it wasn't possible to keep the information up to date?

Some RTÉ webpages still refer to p530 e.g. http://www.rte.ie/radio/NW.html
    General Information

Refer to technical information on RTÉ 2 (TV) teletext page 530 for changes or updates. RTÉ Network phone number 1850 584 584 during office hours, or answering machine.

I remember about 10 years ago RTÉ announced thru p530 that the 5 main VHF transmitters would remain on VHF until ASO, didn't see the information printed elsewhere.
