Ok, he's a Spurs fan, he was awarded an MBE and he's also a legendary DJ with impeccable taste. He describes himself as a House music DJ but his "Good Times" sound can include classic Funk, Soul and even shades of Hip-Hop. His main room set's tend to be more of the funky disco influenced house variety. He started DJ'ing somewhere around 30 years ago and has since established himself as one of the highlights of the Notting Hill Carnival, his birthplace, as well as a genre defying, universally acknowledged, critically acclaimed DJ. Jay's "Good Times" compilation albums, alongside his legendary sets and huge amount of respect have often seen him referred to as "The deejay's DJ."
Paul Weller cites him as his favourite DJ. Mick Jagger had him play at his 50th birthday, amongst countless celebrity parties. He also started "Talkin Loud" records with Giles Peterson, features regularly in any top DJ's in the world poll and is a recognized authority on black music and club culture. In fact his list of achievements over the years are too long to go into right now. We're just really looking forward to catching one of his DJ sets in the Village on a Sunday night, before a bank holiday, God knows we need some cheering up. We reckon Norman is the man to deliver and he's just not been to Dublin enough. Support on the night comes from Richie B. Advance tickets are only €12.50.
