    Hello,
I hope someone can help us. We are about to set up a new website selling interior accessories. We have a good courier service for Ireland/UK but we have one major stumbling block. We cannot get reasonable rates for Europe/USA.
For example, a box the size of 10 Kilos by volume costs €60 + Vat to send to Germany. This is going to have us dead in the water before we even get started!
Can a few of you recommend a courier service that has tracking facilites, etc that can send parcels out at good rates? I'd really appreciate any input. Thanks for your time.
    CF

I have started to use citypost.ie for parcels in Europe (expensive for USA) the are much cheaper than An Post and they collect from you which is very handy.

Their rates are on their site. www.citypost.ie, but I would also give them a call, easy company to deal with.

    Hello cfeeneyinterior

Indeed GLS appear to be one of the cheapest. According to my (standard, non volume based) rates 10 kgs to Germany would cost you € 11.90 plus 6.5% fuel surcharge plus VAT.

The alternative would be DPD, but their standard tariff is higher than GLS. Where DPD would probably be more attractive if you ship multiple cartons to the same address as they charge a basic plus per kg (regardless of number of pieces).

Hope this helps. Best of luck with your venture

    Cheers,

Thanks Rudolph, that seems like a great price from what I was looking at before. Will have to get on to them today. However, just wondering, have you had any problems with them? Some people on boards are saying they have problems with them. I suppose there is always going to be issues but from your experience, how have they been for you?
    Thanks again.

    Hello CF,

I have not had any problems, but then again I am not a major user. If you have any difficulties let me know. A former colleague of mine works in GLS and I am sure through him we can access the correct people in GLS of you encounter problems.

As I said, the alternative might be DPD. Also, TNT have a good ground (Roadfreight) service. It might be an idea to check them out aswell.

    Cheers,
    Rudolf289
