Off-peak train times

Just a quick question. I'm hoping to travel one way from Ennis to Dublin this Thursday. I checked the Irish Rail site last week and there was the option of the odd off peak fare in the mornings (think it was a tenner one way). I've checked again today and can't seem to find the off peak fares anywhere. Does anyone know if Irish Rail are still doing these off peak fares or have they realised that they might actually be offering a fair price to people and pulled them altogether? Tried to ring Ennis Station but don't know why I bothered cos they never answer the phone there anyway.

They have changed the booking system. There are now only a certain number of EUR 10 seats per train. Once they are sold then the price goes up incrementally before finally reaching the full fare.

Basically - book as far in advance to get the cheapest fare is the rule.

Check in the booking office in Ennis as they may have cheap mid-week returns or special deals to Dublin.

Cheers for the replies folks. Check up as far as next week on the site (not that that's any good to me) and there's no cheap fares coming up. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and fork out the E30 one way. Might pop into train station on way home but seeing as how their unable to answer a phone I can't imagine they'll be much help.

You might find a return to Athenry and a return from Athenry to Dublin a bit cheaper.
