Tullfarris Golf - Novice?

Total novice at golf - play 3 times a year max.

At a wedding shortly in Tullfarris - and some of the lads are at me to go out for a round.

Am I wasting my time on this championship golf course?

I can hit a golf ball and keep it on fairways from tee. But wind and water do concern me.

    Advice required.

You'll be fine. There are some tough holes there, but you'll most likely be playing from the front/visitor tees so it won't really be championship standard. There is a decent amount of water but it would be a shame not to play on it while you're there as it's a really nice course.

Wouldn't describe it as little, it's 7,165 yards of the championship tees and 6,737 yards from the white.
To the OP you should definitely play, I'm a member there and can say that although it can play a little long there is a good bit of space off the tee. It is based on the shores of the Pollaphuca reservoir with some great scenery but the lake doesn't come into play that much. There are some ponds in play on the par 3s but nothing too extreme. Course is in good condition at present so get out and enjoy the day.

OP, I'd be your standard and I lost ten balls in the water. Enjoyed it though, cracking course!

Greens are very good "fast" couldn't complain on them.
I used there shot saver which was a great help on the Tee.
Rough is tough so a case of just get back on short stuff.
If you can drive straight it's enjoyable.
