    Hi guys,

About a month ago my '96 fiesta started to develop a shudder when turning on full lock. It doesn't have power steering and is a bog standard car.

No problem with the car at all - it usually happens when I have to turn the wheel for a 90 degree turn. It shudders and there's a clunking sort of sound coming from fron suspension/wishbone area.

It stops one the car straigthens up and drives away perfectly. I have the NCT coming up soon and I'm afraid what they might find with this problem:pac:

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi, I have the same car and problem and it recently passed the NCT.

I would love to know what caused it though!

Ah great, there's hope for me so! I plan to get her ready for the test myself and put her through and see what shows up. If its nothing too major I'll drop her into the garage and let them fix her up.

    Thanks alot man!

^^^^ yip sounds like a C.V to me.........i'd get that changed asap as it could seize up 'whenever' and also it could cause other damAge to wheel bearings and such, due to excessive heat created in the wheel hub.

Aye, I'd say your right lads. Had a look on google there and it seems like it could be that.

Would this be considered a big/costly job do ye think? If it is I'll probably scrap the car and pick some similar up again...

new cv boot and joint fitted..I'd be guessing around the 300 mark, maybe slightly more.

It's a low cost job but can be labour intensive. Constant Velocity joint basically just needs to be re packed with grease and the boot replaced.

I'm suprised mystika121 passed the NCT. I was almost sure CV boots were checked.

Thanks I must get it checked so. I only feel it when I have full lock on to reverse the car out of the drive.

you would be talking around 100 for a joint and boot, and they are not easy to fit, a fair bit of labour involved..you wont get it all done and fitted for 150!

depends where you go I suppose, but Id gues you would be charged 1.5-2hrs labour@ 50-100 euro per hour(ex. vat)...so all in anywhere from 185-330 euro.
