Hi there. I need someones advice. I am just after starting a new job in the medical device industry and it is a 3 month probation contract. How does this normally fair out after 3 months my main worry is just after the 3 months what happens not that im not a good worker Im just curious.
Is the 'probation' something to be worrying about??

I'm sure almost every position these days has a probation period. its just so they can easily fire you if you're crap at the job.

Also Is it a 3 month contract or full time contract?

I've heard stories about people not being giving enough of a chance so stay focused and work really hard from day 1!

I've worked in jobs with a 9 month probation period. Probation really doesn't matter, if they don't like you they can fire you easy enough - especially within the first year.

I have never worked in a job that doesn't have a probation period.
It's not only so they can sack you if you're crap at the job(or whatever reason), you can also leave without giving any notice - it's possible you might hate the job or get a better job offer.
A probation period is for both parties - not just the company.

Probation is quite normal. 3 months is actually quite short.

True, my probabtion for my current job lasted 6 months.

Unless you are very bad at your job (or they are down-sizing) OP you should be fine. Just make sure to be in on time, try not to have any quality issues (a big thing in a medical device company, trust me I know) and not to be taking holidays/days off unless they are necessasy. They, being senior managers, may well look at the type of days you would take off. For example, did this employee take mostly Friday's or Monday's off.

I know it sounds crazy, but I have seen it first hand myself.
