Marathon as part of a relay team Q

    Hi,
I will be running the Cork Marathon as part of a relay team (4 or 5 people). I've never done this before and I am just wondering are there arrangements made for the people who run the first sections, as in getting to the relay point that they start at and leaving the point that they finish at, or is it up to the team to arrange someone to collect these people?

    Sorry if it's a stupid question :-)

They have had buses to take you out to the changeover points before which I'm sure they have again. I think the changeovers have changed this year though so you'll need to check on the times of the various buses to each location, and don't leave it to the last one. I've only ever finished back close to the centre so not sure how the buses work for getting you back to town if your stopping out of town once the race is on and roads are closed, but there are plenty here who have done that before and will be along shortly.

This is the blurb from the website if it's of any help.

On RACE DAY, Shuttle Buses will be available at City Hall to take you to your outlying changeover points. You may, of course, make your own way to your changeover but remember that there are traffic restrictions in place throughout the day. We’ll issue a bus first-and-last timetable closer to race day. Arrive early at City Hall and allow plenty of time to get to your changeover position. Calculate how quickly your preceding team mate will complete their section; allow at least a half hour at your changeover position to find your appropriate section, to warm up, change gear, and just to savour the atmosphere. Remember, if you don’t make it to your changeover on time, your team won’t be able to complete the race.

Cool, seems fairly straight forward, should be o.k.
    Thanks for the info.

I ran the third section of a 5 man relay on last year's marathon. I was able to get a free bus from City Hall to my change over point at Ringmahon Road but my team mate who ran before me couldn't find any bus to take him back into the city after his section. He ended up walking back in. I didn't have the same problem as my section finished within walking distance of where I live. It might be worth your while having something organised for the return journey if needs be...!!!

Running the full marathon on Monday. First time, nervous as hell...!!!
