Timesharing

I'm interested in learning all the technical details behind this service, even though I don't live in Ireland (I was referred here from Digital Spy), as I'm making one of my timesharing charts for it (you can see the ones I've made for UK DTT on http://tim32.org/~muzer/muxdiag.png ). My main question is about the timesharing between RTÉ One +1 and RTÉjr. Basically, from reading around, my impression is it goes something like this:

    0900-1830 - RTÉjr
1830-1845 - Video caption on RTÉjr
1845-1900 - Video caption on RTÉ One +1
    1900-0200 - RTÉ One +1
0200-0900 - vacant stream (ie, no video caption on either channel)

    Is this accurate?

Oh, and is the service name of RTÉ One +1 like that? Or does it have more/fewer spaces?

Assuming I was correct with the timing, I've created the ROI version of my diagram. It's available on http://tim32.org/~muzer/muxdiag.png - you can either load it directly, or via viewcurrent.php which will add a line at the current time. I'll embed it in this post so you can see an example:

    viewcurrent.php?diag=muxdiag-roi.png

I'm not sure about the times, I've never watched it all the way through. I've seen RTÉ One +1 continue after 0200 until the current programme ends I assume.

On the epg the last programme scheduled tonight is RTÉ News 01:15-01:20 then nothing after.

See the channel names here - http://www.saorview.ie/channels-services/television-channels-and-services/. The epg displays it as RTÉ One +1.

Heh - you can tell from their website the service is owned by RTÉ ;)

What with there being massive advertisements for all RTÉ channels, but then just "TV3" and "3e" with no descriptions or anything for those :p

Not necessary, as the information may not be sent to them Also TV3 are not fans of Tommy and PJ.

Saorview came from the failure to launch a commercial DTT service, RTÉ were directed by the Minister for Communications to rollout the PSB muxes on their own at that time.

TV3 (3e) were shareholders in the Onevision consortium that failed to agree terms for the commercial DTT licences in April 2010, if successful TV3 & 3e would have been carried on the commercial muxes. The Broadcasting Act 2009 allocates them capacity on the PSB muxes if they requested it.

RTÉ One +1 transmission came to an end at 0120 approx as above. Short approx 1 min caption of RTÉ One +1 starting at 1900, then blank screen.
